God’s Timeless Charge

Zechariah 7:9-10(KJV)

V. 9 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother.

V. 10 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart

God’s Timeless Charge – It highlights God’s nature, his purpose, it transcends human history and never changes. This charge is enduring and relevant across every era.

Sometimes God is speaking to a specific people or person for a specific time, sometimes God is speaking to a specific people or person but it really shows His nature and that command is Timeless.

These words are also spoke by Jesus and other prophets and prophetess.

God’s Timeless words in Zechariah 7:9-19 are so relevant today. It is a Devine Charge on how to treat others and ourselves.

Execute true judgment – Treat others fairly all the time, let no one be treated differently because of race, gender, financial status, the same rules should apply to all.

Everyone must obey the law and the same judgments should be fair for everyone.

Show mercy and Compassion – Treat everyone with the mercy and grace that we ourselves have received from God, instead of looking for reasons to condemn show love.

Who is this Charge mainly about:

The vulnerable – Those who can’t fend for themselves, we must refuse to exploit society’s most defenseless individuals.

Widows – Woman whose husband has died and is in a bad financial situation.

Poor – The oppressed, often poverty is treated as the result of systemic injustice and exploitation of the weak by the powerful, the bible heavily condemn those who oppress the poor and take advantage of them.

Not just by giving handouts, but in the area of opportunities.

The poor is not just in material things but in spiritual things, low self-esteem, mentally, emotionally.

Some try to constantly tell others that they can’t, even the ones who supposed to help the poor can keep them down.

Fatherless – We can make being fatherless a shameful thing, many have went on to do great things with out having or not knowing their father.

Stranger – Foreigner, sojourner, alien, our modern day immigrants or migrants. Anyone from another country.

I’m not talking policy or politics, I’m talking treating everyone fairly and showing Compassion.

Finally:

Treat everyone fairly – We are commanded to treat each other fairly and not plot evil against each other.

Whether that person is rich, poor, any people group, we are commanded to treat everyone fairly.

There seems to be a conscience effort to divide us and keep us divided, divide and conquer, the “us versus them” dynamic never ends.

God’s Timeless Charge, we must not get so caught up in our political, Social, and religious differences that we forget God’s Timeless Charge.
