The Sovereign LORD has given me a well instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary.
A Timely Word – A word that perfectly matches the moment, and brings immense value.
It aligns perfectly with a specific circumstance, condition, or season.
It can sustain and bring grace to others, it doesn’t have to be harsh or condemning but encouraging.
It is a fitly spoken word, not just something blurted out.
Proverbs 25:11(NKJV)
A Word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings v of silver.
What Can A Timely Word do:
1. A Timely Word can bring comfort
2 Corinthians 1:4(NIV)
Who comforts us in our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Just like God gives us comfort, we must do the same. Instead of looking for ways to put people down, we should look for ways to pick others up.
Everyone is going through something, or will go through something, we must always remember that.
A Timely Word can bring much comfort.
2. A Timely Word can give Encouragement
1 Thessalonians 5:11(NIV)
Therefore encourage one another and build up just as in fact you are doing.
Words of encouragement can go a long ways, it can be the reason someone don’t give up.
3. A Timely word can Revive
Many are exhausted, life can take a toll on all of us.
A Timely Word can revive someone who is downtrodden, discouraged, or disenchanted.
When we revive or refresh others we actually are helping ourselves also.
Proverbs 11:25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
4. A Timely Word can give correction and direction
Proverbs 27:5
Better is open rebuke than hidden love.
If we really love our family, and friends especially we will correct them in love.
Honest, direct correction can be more beneficial and loving than silent affection.
We should never give correction with some direction.
Avoiding confrontation out of fear of huet feelings can do a disservice to any relationship or friendship.
If someone is truly your friend they will understand.
