Walking On Water

Matthew 14:28-29(ERV)

V. 28 Peter said, “Lord, if that is really you, tell me to come to you on the water.”

V. 29 Jesus said, “Come, Peter.” Then Peter left the boat and walked on the water to Jesus.

Peter actually walked on Water, it shows how faith and courage can overcome obstacles.

It has become a metaphor or odium for success and accomplishments.

Walking On Water – A metaphor for faith, courage, and overcoming impossible obstacles.

It has less to do with skills and more to do with courage, although with accomplishments there are skills needed.

But there are a lot of skilled and talented people that never accomplish much.

Those who accomplish certain feets lean on their faith just as much as their abilities.

We need:

1. Faith

Walking on Water symbolizes the faith to step out of the boat(Comfort Zone), safety, or security to follow your dreams or plans.

2. Courage over Fear

Peter begin to sink when his focus became on the obstacles rather than his faith.

Peter was smart enough to call on Jesus for help.

When we begin to fear we need to call on the one who gave us the courage to begin, that is God.

Joyce Meyer quote:

“Courage is fear that has said its prayers and deicided to go forward anyway.”

3. Persistence and Resilience

In life we will have turbulence, obstacles, difficulties, but we must keep moving forward.

Persistence – The firm continued and determined pursuit of a goal or action, despite obstacles, difficulties, or delays.

Resilience – The ability to adapt to adversity, trauma, or significant stress, and keep bouncing back.

John 16:33(ERV)

“I have told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In the world you will have troubles. But be brave! I have defeated the world.”

Walking On Water doesn’t have to be some world changing event, but it can be life changing for you and yours.

Finishing College, getting the job you always wanted, starting that company, becoming a book writer, starting a blog, running a non profit, community activist, starting a family, getting out of debt.

So many life changing situations that can affect ourselves and others.

It all starts with getting out of the boat, putting your feet on the water, and one step at a time.

Remember part of the word Impossible is the Possible.

Nelson Mandela quote:

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

Aubrey Hepburn quote:

“Nothing is impossible. The word itself says I’m possible.”

Lil Wayne quote:

“I don’t need it to be easy, I just need it to be worth it.”

Your journey is worth it, it has not been easy but keep moving forward.
