There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judged you.
Who is a God like unto thee?
Unlike God humans have always had a propensity to be judgmental, unforgiving, hateful, condemning, jealous of each other, starting with Cain being jealous of Abel and killing him.
God’s Delight – God does not take delight in our failures or shortcomings.
God delights in getting us back on track, not just in our sin, but in the adversity of life.
Mercy is not just for forgiveness of sin, but for love and compassion when life gets us down. We need God’s mercies everyday to get through.
Lamentations 3:22-23(KJV)
V. 22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassion fail not.
V. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
We need God’s mercy to get up in the morning, to get us through the day, and to sleep at night.
Our Desire – Showing mercy should be our desire. We don’t have to agree with others but we can show kindness and goodness.
I know we live in a day where being mean is normal, and we have to take sides and call out the other side.
My favorite bible passage is the good Samaritan, how he helped someone of a different culture.
He had mercy and compassion on him, that should be our desire everyday we wake up.
God’s mercy is God’s goodness, it is God’s goodness through us that really reaches people.
Romans 2:4(NKJV)
Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
Let us pray that God’s goodness convicts people into believing in him and turning to him.
God’s Delight is to show mercy, Our Desire should be to show mercy to others.
We can generalize too much, people are the way they are for different reasons.
Many people have suffer so much and have given up on life, let us not give up on them.
