Comfort Zone

Genesis 28:18-19(CEV)

V. 18 When Jacob got up early the next morning, he took the rock that he had used for a pillow and stood it up as a place of worship. Then he poured olive oil on the rock to dedicate it to God.

V. 19 And he named the place Bethel. Before that it had been named Luz.

Genesis 35:1(CEV)

God told Jacob, return to Bethel, where i appeared to you when you were running from your brother Esau. Make your home there and build an altar for me.

Genesis 35:1 Jacob was at a pivotal point in his life, what he needed most was something familiar.

Jacob needed to remember who he was, Bethel was a ‘Comfort Zone” for him because it reminded him who he was and God’s plan for his life. Jacob found rest there.

There are times we need to go back to our “Comfort Zone”, a place of comfort and rest.

Comfort Zone – Place where you feel safe, at ease, a familiar place, a place where you feel some kind of control, normalcy, low stress, a place to minimize anxiety.

“Comfort Zone” has gotten a bad reputation.

So many books written on getting out of your “Comfort Zone”, i have not seen one on going back to your “Comfort Zone’, if only for a season.

So we can force ourselves out of situation where we may need to be longer than we may think.

A “Comfort Zone” is not a bad, people constantly say if you want to grow get out of your “Comfort Zone”.

Life brings enough challenges on its own to get out of a place where you are growing just to prove a point, to make things difficult for yourself and the people who depend on you.

If you want change or something better fine, but never let society or peer presser cause your change, f things are not working out for you spiritually, financially, mentally in that place then that’s different.

But just because you are comfortable that may not be a reason for change, most people are lookin for comfort.

Even if you leave that place, life can bring you back there for many reasons,

What can a Return to our “Comfort Zone” do for us:

1. Help reduce stress & anxiety Routines and predictability can minimize stress, promoting well being. Being around familiar people and places can help you feel safe, stability can be an asset

2. Rebuild your confidence Life challenges and the hustle of life can take a lot out of us, the struggle is real.

No matter how positive we are, life happens, “Comfort Zone” promotes well-being.

3. Revival and rest physically and Spiritually When Jacob got back to Bethel God told him to build an altar.

Revival and recharging is necessary to regain energy, so we can take in new challenges.

4. Lighthen our emotional Load

We can grow so much and take on so much in life, we can get overwhelmed.

“Comfort Zone” is where we realize why we started in the first place, so we can remember to enjoy the process.

5. New Ideas

It can be a launching platform for new dreams and new ideas.

If you’re in a safe place “Comfort Zone”, you don’t have to be in a hurry to leave that place.

Most people are looking for consistency and security, change can be overrated.

When we don’t know what to do, we can go back to what we know and do that.

“Comfort Zone” is not always a bad place, I know that goes against what some of the motivational speakers and inspirational say, but it is a good place.

You may have to eliminate certain things and certain people in your life, we will find out that we can live with out more than we think.

We need to learn to appreciate “Comfort Zone” seasons of life, life has enough challenges and hardships on it’s own.
