Psalm 11:1(ERV)
I trust in the LORD, so why did you tell me to run and hide? Why did you say “Fly like a bird to your mountain?”
Psalm 11 is a Psalm and a Song of trusting in God, song to be sung in public or private as a song of confidence in the face of a crisis.
The world has so many great things, many great sites to see, places to visit, things you can accomplish and people to meet.
The world also has danger, troubles, and we all will face adversity.
We do not purposefully look for trouble or danger, we should do everything we can to keep ourselves, our families, friends and others safe.
David was facing a tough situation, his enemies were out to get him, David was dealing with physical enemies at this time.
His friends, counselors, family members told him to run and hide, David could not understand why they said that.
That is how our lives can be, when faced with adversity, troubles, setbacks, we can run and hide or face our fears.
Zig Ziglar quote:
” F-E-A-R has two meanings: Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise. The choice is yours.”
David seem surprised when he was told to run, especially since everyone knew that he trusted in God.
Adversity in this life is unavoidable, so we must face it.
Family and friends who constantly speak fear when we are facing life’s trouble we must set boundaries.
When facing adversity we must:
1. Reject fear
It is not easy at times to reject fear because we are humans and every situation is different. When well meaning people or even our own minds may urge us to panic, hide, or try to escape, we must challenge our fears and the negative advice of others.
2. Remember God has helped you before
The same God that has brought you through so much will get you through again. God is our refuge and stronghold, God will never leave us or forsake us.
3. Look to others for encouragement
Hopefully we all have people in our lives who will encourages us to not give, not to hide or try to run from our problems.
Those who have been through a lot themselves and will encourage you to trust in God and do your part to make things better.
Those who have Faith and trust in God do not run from life’s challenges, realizing that God is our ultimate protector.
Even though we may have the best home security systems, do what we can to keep safe, we need God’s protection.
Although we trust in God in life we may need a therapist or counselor, especially when dealing with anxiety, depression, extreme fear, panic, terror, or domestic issues.
Our main help comes from God, so we must not run from troubles but run to God.
When Facing Life’s Troubles trust in God and look to him.
