What Moves Us

Matthew 9:36(NKJV)

But when He saw the multitudes. He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.

What Moves Us – Has to do with our core motivations, emotions, passions, and inspirations that drive human action and define our sense of purpose.

The things that causes us to pray, to get involved, to help, to give.

Whatever unlocks our compassion and our passion.

Passion is more personal, often our drive toward a goal, hobby, or a person.

Compassion is more empathetic sympathy for the suffering of others, which causes us to help.

They both often work together, our compassion normally drives us to want to be or do something, to have passion for something.

Zechariah 7:9-10(NKJV)

V. 7 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Execute true justice, show mercy and compassion Everyone to his brother.

V. 8 Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, The alien or the poor. Let none of you plan evil in his heart Against his brother.

Those verses covers everyone living in the community, not just those from the community.

We all may have our religious, social or political beliefs, let not that cause our heart to wax cold for others not of our groups.

Some things should move us no matter what our religious or political beliefs are.

We need to try to understand others that are not like us, not the oppressors or abusing, but people of different races and cultures.

Some people have been through a lot, it doesn’t excuse behavior but should help understand behavior.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer quote:

“We must learn to regard people less in light of what they do or omit to do, and more in the light of what they suffer”

Let us not lose compassion, let us continue to be moved, even by the pains of people we do not agree with.

What Moves Us, hopefully the pain of others.
