Separation before ELEVATION

So in Genesis 13 Abraham was at a pivotal point in his life, he had obeyed God and left where he was to follow God.

Abraham’s Nephew Lot had decided to come with him, but Lot was selfish, materialistic, and stubborn. There begin to be continual arguments between Lot people and Abraham’s people, it begin to hold Abraham back.

So Abraham gave Lot a choice, Abraham was so desperate to get away from Lot that he let Lot choose what he wanted, Abraham knew in the end he would get God’s best.

Are we willing to settle for less to get in position to eventually get God’s best. Whether it’s leaving a relationship, leaving a friendship, leaving a job, leaving a career, leaving a state or city in pursuit of what’s best for you, are we willing to separate.

God didn’t speak to Abraham about his ultimate future until Abraham separated himself from Lot.

Genesis 13:14-15(NKJV),

V. 14 And the LORD said to Abram, after lot had separated from him. “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are-Northward, Southward, Eastward, Westward.

V. 15. For all the land which you see I will give to you and your descendants.

Sometimes people or situations have us down so bad that we can’t even lift our heads up until we are separated from that person or situation.

I so love these verses, some thoughts.

1. Separation before elevation: not just people but separation is sometimes a mindset, a way of thinking, self doubt, a victim mentality.

2. Looked from where you are, Abram was in Canaan, there was a famine there. Wherever we are today we can look from.

3. Look in every direction, a blessing from 4 directions, a lot of times blessings can come from unexpected directions. .

4. Everything that we can see, that’s where I was today, we have to see ourselves walking in prosperity, wealth, position, and purpose, being blessed and being a blessing to others.

5. Can you imagine yourself in a better place or situation, someone once said that the greatest Nation is Imagination.

God hasn’t forgotten, earlier in the chapter Lot chose the best and left Abram in Canaan, a famine, sometimes it seems like we are left with crumbs and others who left us or prospering, but God is faithful.

Walking with God is not always easy, tough choices may have to be make, sometimes it may seem like we’re moving backwards, but hang in there, believe in God and believe in yourself.

Separation is not always necessary, if your in the right place, with the right people or person, but sometimes to elevate you must separate, or sometimes its about you separating from your mindset, as stated earlier.

Separation from anything is not easy, including a negative or pessimistic mindset, but to get to where we want to be and need to be, we must change. I believe we can and we will.
