Fulfilling Our Promises

So many times we talk about God fulfilling his promises to us and we forget about fulfilling our promises to God.

Not just fulfilling our promises to God but also to other people.

But remember you’re not obligated to continue to fulfill promises to people that treat you bad, especially if they verbally, mentally or physically abuse you.

God once spoke to me clearly and said:

“If I do what you asked, will you do what you said?”

Genesis 28:20-22(NLT)

V. 20 Then Jacob made this vow: “If God will indeed be with me and protect me on this journey, and if he will provide me with food and clothing

V. 21 And if I return safely to my father’s home, then the LORD will certainly be my God.

V. 22 And this memorial pillar i have set up will become a place for worshiping God, and I will present to God’s a tenth of everything he gives me.”

Remember, God never demanded anything of Jacob, Jacob made the vow. It wasn’t about the tenth Jacob promised but that he promised it, Jacob said if you di this i will do that

Ecclesiastes 5:5(NLT)

It’s better to say nothing than make a promise and not keep it.

Many times, we make promises or vows to God when we are in trouble.

We get to heaven by faith, but many of God promises come with conditions.

The number one condition is to always worship God, give God the praise, and be the best version of ourselves to make greater impact.

We all have promised God if we become managers supervisors, we will treat people differently.

Some have said if I become a pastors or leaders we will never take advantage of people.

We may promise if we get wealth, we will really reach back and help the unfortunate.

We may promise to use our social media voices to empower and encourage and not spew hate and division.

Making a promise if I become a teacher, I will really care for our students and not do it would be a disservice.

Many politicians have made promises thar they would be different if they get elected. Why should God fulfill his end if we don’t ours.

Dueteronomy 8:18(NLT)

Remember the LORD your God. He is the one who gives you the power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.

In all that God never gives up on us, we all have promised God things in our hardships, troubles, difficult situations, and on the otherside we did not fulfill our end.

But God never gives up on us. We just do better next time.

Let’s be better at fulfilling our promises, not just to God but to other people also.
