Making a Difference

Proverbs 31:8(Message Bible)

“Speak up for the people who have no voice, for the rights of all the misfits. Speak out for injustice! Stand up for the poor and destitute!”

Proverbs 31:8 is the chapter where King Lemuel mother is giving him wisdom and direction.

Some believe Lemuel is Solomon, but the wisdom given is more important.

In the midst of Proverbs Chapter 31 is ageless wisdom, verse 8.

Speak up – Has to do with letting your voice be heard, a public declaration, or in a private discussion.

Speak out – Speaking out has little to do with volume but more to do with specific issues, like injustices, oppression, discrimination, etc.

Stand up – To defend or support something, especially against unfair treatment or criticism.

It may mean financial support, specific contributions to society, volunteering for things, voting, and going to townhall meetings.

What i love about Jesus is that he stood up for others when people turn their backs in them.

Erin Gruwell – The teacher at a racially divided high school in long beach California, for at risk kids, she inspired the freedom writers, it became a foundation for at risk kids and a movie.

Quote:

“Evil prevails when good people do nothing”.

So wherever you are in life, you have a voice, you may be a mother, father, son, doughtier, teacher, preacher, writer, social worker, blogger, social media influencer, politician, business owner, student, employee, technology, science, young, middle age, retired, you have a voice.

So you don’t have to be loud, like some, you can be loud, but however you choose, let your voice be heard.

Dr. Martin Luther King

“Stand up for justice, stand up for truth; God will be at your side forever”.
