Peace Be With You

John 20:19-21(NIV)

V. 19 On the even of that first day of the week, when his disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”.

V. 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

V. 21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the father has sent me, I AM sending you”.

The first words Jesus said to his disciples after the resurrection were, “Peace be with you.”

Jesus knew that in this world, like he had said earlier in John 16:33, in this world you will have trouble.

Peace be with you had multiple meanings and messages.

1. It became a common greeting among the earlier Christians, wishing for each other safety and well-being, internal and external.

2. It was and is a prayer that is pray for other Christians and people in general for success and overall health. 3 John 1:2.

3. It was and is an assurance that God would never leave us or forsake us, which should give us peace.

4. Jesus is sending us into this world to make a difference and we need peace of mind that he is with us and for us, which he is.

Whether you are a doctor, teacher, preacher, book writer, blogger, lawyer, politician, coach, student etc.

We are all here for a reason, and we are all important. We need the peace of God to dwell in our hearts.

So “Peace be with you” as you journey in this life. We all have different callings, skills, talents, and abilities.

So when we are feeling stress because of the pressures of life, which came be overwhelming.

With job security, financial pressure, domestic issues, whether relationships issues, issues in marriage, kids, or others family and friends we need peace..

with all of the political issues we have in this world can cause a like of peace, but be of good cheer.

Life will never be totally free of stress or pressure, but of all the things we should pray for each other, it should be peace. Jesus was and is the Prince of peace.

The first words Jesus had for his disciples after the resurrection were, “Peace be with you.”

Jesus words for us today are “Peace be with you.”
