The Paradox of Generosity

Proverbs 11:25(NLT)

The generous will prosper, those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

Proverbs 19:17(ERV)

Giving help to the poor is like loaning money to the LORD. He will pay you back for your kindness.

Luke 6:38(NLT)

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full-pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured in your lap. The amount you give determine the amount you get back.

Acts 20:35(NLT)

And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: “It’s more blessed to give than to receive.”

Paradox – A seemingly absurd or self-contradictory statement or proposition that when investigated or explained may prove to be well founded or true.

How can giving something away add to you, it seems like the more you give, the less you will have.

Now in giving most people think of just money, money is important, having money is actually a priority to live a decent life in this world, but anything you give.

The bible and other religious writings talk a lot about giving to others, especially the poor and needed.

But anything you give seems to come back to you. There were so many times when i was down on my luck financially, I volunteered at the foodbank or another charity place.

Not to receive, it’s not a formula, but I really got something out of it, it made me feel better.

Oprah Winfrey quote:

“Helping others is the way we help ourselves”

The Helper’s High:

The Helper’s High is a name given to that feeling of well-being that follows an opportunity to extend an act of kindness, giving money to a charitable cause, or volunteer in a meaningful place.

Studies have shows that chemicals are released, the body releases endorphins to give us the strength we need to keep going.

These endorphins brings us joy and fulfillment, giving brings personal joy.

So a lot of time because we may not have finances so we think we can’t give, but we can give our time, our friendship, our attention, our prayers and our care and concern.

There is so much people need in this life than just money. We may never need money but one day we will need something, let’s freely give so we can freely receive.

Matthew 10:8b

Freely you have received; freely give.

Nope, to the mind, it may not seem to make sense, especially when we have our own problems.

But it is theologically proven and scientifically proven that giving not only helps others but it helps ourselves.
