I Feel You

Matthew 9:36(ERV)

Jesus saw the many people and felt sorry for them because they were worried and helpless – like sheep without a Shepherd to lead them.

Empathy – The ability to understand, share, and resonate with emotions, thoughts of others. Walking in their shoes.

Sympathy – A feeling of pity for someone’s hardship or troubles.

Empathy is more understanding, both are good emotions to have, especially if it is proceeded with some kind of action.

The Anti-empathy movement- Is actually a growing movement that frames Empathy as weakness, they claim empathy can cause you to be manipulated or controlled by others.

This movement  fights against social justice against certain groups like, minorities, immigrants, or marginalized groups.

Some view Empathy as a sin, because some people have politicized Empathy.

But if Jesus can look at people and feel sorry for them, have compassion for them, so can i.

It is easy to justify not helping people, or look for ways and reasons not to.

Will some people take your kindness for a weakness, sure they will, we need to use wisdom in helping others.

But there is a difference in using wisdom and not helping or caring at all.

People will try to take advantage of you, poor and rich people, they tried to take advantage of Jesus.

Mother Teresa’s Paradoxical Commandments(A Few Of Them):

1. People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive Then Anyway.

2. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind Anyway.

3. The good you do today will often be forgotten. Do Good Anyway.

4. The final analysis, it is between you an God. It was never about them anyway.

Proverbs 41:1(NLT) Oh, the joy of those who are kind to the poor, The LORD rescues them when they are in trouble.

I feel you – let that be a part of our make up, the essence of who we are.

Why is being kind so hard for some.
