Moses, the LORD’s servant, sent me to look at the land where we were going. I was 40 years old at that time, I told Moses what I thought of the land.
Joshua 14:10-11(ERV)
V. 10 Now the LORD has kept me alive for 45 more years—-as he said he would. During the time we all wandered in the desert. Now, here i am, 85 years old.
V. 11 I am still as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me out. I am as ready to fight as I was then.
When we look at individuals in the bible, although God kept them and took care of them we have to be mindful of their lifestyles.
Caleb followed God wholeheartedly, but he took care if himself physically.
Caleb’s first 40 years he live in the wilderness, the provisions in the wilderness was Manna and whatever was available in the wilderness.
The Land Diet included, Oliver oil, grapes, figs, pomegranates, vegetables, milk and honey.
Caleb was a warrior, he walked through the land of Canaan as a warrior and a spy, he got a lot of exercise.
He walked hilly rugged terrain of Hebron which involved a lot of physically activity, farming, building, walking long distance. His exercise was not gym-based but functional, a life of endurance, walking, and hand to hand combat.
Although Caleb was a Godly spiritual man, his physically fitness helped the longevity of his life.
The main reason for longevity of the lives of people in the bible was their commitment to God, but they also lived better lives by taking care of themselves.
There are many fitness and nutrition programs that you can fine online or with your doctors help.
Caleb didn’t say he was as strong as he was when he was 20 but since he had been 40, now being 85.
Continue what you’re doing if it’s working for you or get with your doctor and find a problem.
We do not have to just settle for being weakly as we grow older, there are things that can help.
Cardio, resistance training, weight training, yoga, better diet, all can help.
Having social connections can help, which may help in having a positive mindset.

We can continue to be strong and stay sharp spiritually, physically, and mentally as we age.
