Before We Go, Before We Do

Judges 18:5-6(NLT)

V. 5 Then they said, “Ask God whether or not our journey will be successful.”

V. 6 “Go in peace,” The priest replied. “For the LORD is watching over your journey.”

2 Chronicles 20:12(NLT)

O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.

Many things in our lives happen that we don’t have any or much control of.

Relationships can fall apart for no apparent reason, our health can take a negative turn unexpectedly, we can lose a job or our financial situation can change fast.

But many things in life can be prevented with foresight or insight.

We can improve or prevent certain sicknesses by taking better care of our body, by controlling our eating and exercising.

We can improve our mental by not engaging certain people or topics that cause us anxiety, by learning what triggers us.

We can help our financial situation by not spending money we do not need, or buying things we can not afford.

So many times in life we focus on cures instead of prevention.

Preventive means does not guarantee a positive result but it make our percentages better for positive outcomes.

In the old testament or old covenant of the Bible the people had priest and prophets to enquire of God for them.

In the new testament or new covenant we can go directly to God ourselves for help.

Hebrews 4:16

We can go directly to God with boldness and confidence when we need help.

James 1:5

We can go to God directly for wisdom when we do not know what to do.

God can help after the fact, after something bad has happened.

But we can prevent certain things by asking God before hand, everything can not be because trouble is part of life.

Before We Go, Before We Do, let’s look to God first.

God sees things in the future that we can not see.

We can get advice from everyone we know accept God, who certainly knows what is best for us.

It’s good to have people in our lives to go to for advice and wisdom, but God should be our main source.

Before We Go, Before We Do, let’s look to God.
