1 Samuel 30:6(KJV)
And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters; but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
Luke 24:35, 46(KJV)
V. 35
And the people stood beholding. And the rulers with them derided him, saying, He save others, let him save himself, if he be the Christ, the chosen of God.
V. 46
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands, I commend my spirit: and having said this, he gave up the ghost.
What do you do when the very ones you have help for so long, person or people you have sacrificed so much for, turn on you.
“Lean on God”, God is where you find your strength to get through and continue to fulfil your call or your mission.
In David’s case he had more work to do, so he could not feel sorry for himself for too long.
David had fought so many battles, help so many people, as soon as there was adversity, he was blame. Although greatly distressed,
David had to find the strength to keep going, he mission was not finished.
Many think or believe that Jesus enjoyed going to the cross and suffering, it was more his mission or purpose; his hour of passion in that sense.
Jesus was coming to the end of his mission here on earth. Jesus had helped so many, many who he had helped in his darkest hour turnt in him.
Jesus asked God if the be anyway, remove this cup from me, Luke 22:42.
Jesus said nevertheless, because it was his time, his mission had come to an end.
Part of our mission in life is to help people, but it’s not all about people, it’s about obeying God.
Sometimes people will show appreciation, we thank God for them and that, but sometimes they will not and they will turn on him.
As soon as something bad happens some people can turn on you.
Moses dealt with it, every leader will eventually deal with something similar in there life, whether it’s from a spouse, a child, a parent, sibling, friend, coworker etc.
Mother Teresa’s Paradoxical Commandments:
1. People are often unreasonable, irrational, and seldom centered. Forgive them anyway.
2. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
3. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
4. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.
5. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
6. The good you do today, may be forgotten. Do good anyway.
7. Give the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
8. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
Not an easy lesson to learn but must be learned if our lives are committed to helping others.
All those commandments seems the opposite of what you would expect when helping others, but that’s how life is sometimes, especially as a leader.
Lean on God, God is our leaning post.
