Romans 12:18(NIV)
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
So much is going on in the world political, religiously, and financially.
Many people are treated certain ways that are disgusting and can wipe us of our peace.
People always want to be right and get mad if others do not agree with them.
But as I get older, one of the most important things in my life is peace.
I like healthy debate but I hate drama and useless arguments, I’m learning to just let some things go.
I’m learning to pick my battles and let some folks think that they have won, especially if it is a baseless, useless, fruitless conversation.
The first part of verse 18 of Romans 12 starts by saying “If it is possible”.
Sometimes it is not possible to live at peace or be at peace with some people.
They will intentionally will try to bring you down to their level, they know your triggers and what ticks you off.
We have to be intentional about avoiding those situations.
Because of close family and work we have to deal with some argumentative people, but we should put up boundaries.
Live at Peace – A statement of tranquility, being free from stress, fear, and anxiety, or at least minimizing them.
Three things can help us live at peace:
1. Self – Acceptance
Accepting yourself and your current circumstances, being content, content does not mean satisfied.
As long as you are working toward better, believing God for better, putting yourself in better position.
Taking personal accountability, yet not condemning yourself.
Forgiving yourself for your mistakes, shortcomings, and failures. Because God has certainly forgiven you.
2. Forgiving others
That’s not easy in many situations, again do not condemn yourself for not being there yet, continue to ask God to help you.
Forgiving is not just for the person that hurt you, it is mainly for yourself, so that you can move on.
3. Respect for others
If we want to live at peace with must try to respect or understand others of different religions, culture differences, different financial status, different race groups and politics.
We should never respect oppressors, manipulators, control freaks and those who intentionally try to use others.
Being constantly offended by others religious beliefs, political beliefs can cause so much stress and anxiety.
Worrying about how others are living their lives can kept us down when they are living their lives.
As much as it is possible, live at peace with others.
When it is not possible to live at peace with others, live at peace with yourself, regardless, always set boundaries.
Proverbs 4:23(NIV)
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Everything flows from your heart, how you think and feel about yourself, how you think and feel about others, how you see the world around you.
John 14:27(NIV)
Peace i leave with you, my peace i give you. I do not give to you as the world gives peace. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
The world’s peace come from possessions, positions, and others acceptance.
The world did not give us peace and the world can not take it away, let’s not give our peace away.
