Does God Pick Sides?

Joshua 5:13-14a(Message Bible)

V. 13 And then this, while Joshua was there near Jericho: He looked up and saw right in front of him a man standing, holding his drawn sword. Joshua stepped up to him and said, “Whose side are you on-ours or our enemies’?

V. 14a He said, “Neither. I’m commander of God’s Army.

1 Corinthians 1:12(Message Bible) I’ll tell you exactly what I was told: You’re all picking Sides, going around and saying, “I’m on Paul’s side”, or “I’m for Apollos, or “Peter is my man”, or “I’m in the Messiah group”.

Does God Pick Sides:

Amazing in our society and in the church, we are almost always forced to pick a side, both sides say they are on God or on Jesus side.

I believe that because some of us are Christians we can believe that God is always on our side, especially when we have a bible verse to back it up, but we must take the whole bible into context and the nature of God when we take our hardcore stances.

One side says Jesus was more concerned with the social needs of the community, feeding people, clothing people, Jesus was against the oppressors of his time; freeing people from sickness and diseases, eliminating poverty, although Jesus did say there will always be poor people.

Another side says Jesus is more concerned with how we live morality wise, Jesus was more concerned with Holiness, so we should fight against same sex, transgender, DEI, anything that gives people special treatment.

One of the many things I love about God is that although we have the bible, we can never figure God out.

God have used Pharoahs, Harlots, a Persian King Cyrus, the woman at the well married 5 times, and so many unlikely people.

God sided with the woman caught in Adultery and many others that today, especially in the church we may do the opposite.

Sometimes, we can spend so much time trying to defend the bible, however we see it, we forget love and mercy for each other.

C.H. Spurgeon once said, “Defend the Bible, you might as well defend a lion, the bible will defend itself if we just release it.

Some people need love and mercy, some people need rebuke and correction, some things we must and some things God will do.

So we must do our best, of stand up for what we believe is right with love, and impact our world. Some people will agree with us and some will not, that doesn’t always make them evil.

Does God Pick Sides?

I really do not have a specific answer for that; I believe it’s a case by case bases, God of course, God has laws and standards that we all have come short.

One thing I know is that God is not willing that no man shall perish, God is for us, and if God is for us who can be against us.

So before we give up on any person or any political or religious leaders, remember God can use anyone to bring his purpose to pass.

We all have our religious and political beliefs. Some of us, including myself, whether we admit it or not, have some prejudices and bias in us, that’s fine, we’re all human.

So all I know is that God is for me, and God is for you.

God is on your side! Even though God doesn’t agree with everything you think or do, be encouraged by that.
