Nehemiah 6:2-3(ERV)
V. 2 So Sannballat and Geshen sent me this message: “Come, Nehemiah, let’s meet together. We can meet in the town of Kephirim on the plain of Ono.” But they were planning to hurt me.
V. 3 So I sent messengers to them with this answer. “I am doing important work, so I cannot come down. I don’t want the work to stop just so I can come down and meet with you. “
There are so many distractions in the world, so much is happening, people are constantly trying to pull us in senseless and useless arguments.
Now there are ways that we can try to change thing, we can vote, but I wonder about that sometimes, although I vote, but we certainly can pray, prayer changes things, it certainly can change our perspective.
If someone wants to get into a sensible and respectful debate, that can be productive also.
When you are doing great things and trying to be better your life and make a difference, you can constantly be pulled away for any and every cause.
Know who you are and your purpose, we can’t solve every problem in the world.
Nehemiah was doing a great and important work; others seen it and became enraged at what Nehemiah was accomplishing and tried to bring him down to their level.
Many things and people can bring you down:
1. Our adversaries:
A lot of our adversaries were past Allys, they know us, they know what gets to us, and they know what distracts us.
They can constantly try to pull you into arguments. They pot things on social media that gets on your nerves.
They try to bring you down to their level, especially if you’re trying to accomplish something in your life.
But stay focused, you are doing great work, whatever you are doing is important to you and other people you impact.
2. Family and friends:
Most family and friends mean well, but sometimes they wonder why you don’t put as much energy into some things as they do.
They can question if you care.
They want to constantly talk about what’s wrong with no solutions to make things right.
Show your concern but never get obsessed with things you can not change. Never get consumed with people who don’t want to change because they will surely bring you down to their level.
3. Media and social media:
Social media can be a great tool, but it can also be a great hindrance.
It’s the media’ job to keep you enraged, enraged, and outraged.
They get paid for views, clicks, and comments, that’s fine, they have a right to make a living.
But we will never accomplish anything if we constantly let ourselves fall into that trap.
What political or religious side we on, we need to realize there are different opinions and be okay we that, however challenging that is at times.
So let’s try to be wise and not get into useless or senseless arguments.
If given an opportunity, speak your mind, but most arguments are useless.
2 Timothy 2:23(NLT)
Again, I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments. They only start fights.
We have too much to do and accomplish to get into senseless arguments.
So when you feel you are being pulled into something that is taking you away from your purpose, pulled away.
When someone is try to pull you down to their level, just say, “I cannot come down.”
Pray for them and keep moving forward.
