Consequences Of Words

Proverbs 18:19-21(NLT)

V. 19 An offended friend is harder to win back than a fortified city. Arguments separate friends like a gate locked with bars.

V. 20 Wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction.

V. 21 The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

Proverbs 18:19-21 is a form of writing called parallelism, where the three verses are connected.

Each verse in its own way shows how the words we speak can affect others.

What we say can separate us from friends, bring life to others, or cause others to be offended.

Sometimes, in our desire to always be right, even if we are, we have to ask ourselves, is this situation worth losing a friend.

All our words and actions have consequences.

Consequences – Fruit of actions, the results or effect of an action.

Consequences can be good or bad.

Most of the time, we hear the word Consequences, we think some bad results.

But our words can have positive outcomes or results as well.

Such as encouraging someone, complimenting someone on something they have accomplished, or how they look.

Even in blogging, we must realize that some things we put out may be offensive to others, even when it’s unintentional, those are the consequences of having a voice, we should not get offended.

But some people will be enriched or encouraged by what we put out, and we should be grateful for that.

Proverbs 15:4(NLT)

Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

We don’t have to compromise what we believe or think, but everything doesn’t have to be expressed verbally or written all the time.

Words can separate us or words can bring us together.

2 Timothy 2:23(NLT)

Again, i say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights.

Colossians 4:6(ERV)

When you talk, you should always be kind and wise. Then you will be able to answer everyone in the way you should.

Proverbs 31:8-9(NLT)

V. 8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.

V. 9 Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.

We must certainly speak up for the helpless, the oppress, the downtrodden, all those who cannot speak for themselves.

Whatever consequences, good or bad that happen from that, is worth it.

God bless
