2 Peter 1:17(NKJV)
For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Affirm – State as a fact, assert strongly and publicly, offer someone emotional support or encouragement.
A positive phrase to challenge and eliminate negative, unhelpful thoughts that would hold us back.
There is a belief by some that motivation is overrated, that affirmation is not necessary, just get it done, I actually understand that concept.
I believe affirmation or motivation without eventual action can be a problem.
Zig Ziglar quote:
“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily. ”
If God had to affirm his son Jesus, who came from heaven, i think affirmations can help us also.
Affirmation – A statement that something is true.
Matthew 3:17 God said that he was pleased with his son before he had done any miracles, healing, or teaching.
Luke 9:35 God reaffirmed who his son was after many miracles and teaching.
So we must affirm our kids before they do anything that we may consider great.
Letting them know that our love for them is not based on performance or actions.
Then, once they accomplished anything we must show our appreciation for what they have done.
Affirmation is very power:
1. We should receive God’s affirmation for us, God love for us is not based on performance.
God’s word is full of affirmations of who we are and his love for us.
2. We should speak affirmations to ourselves.
We must speak positive to ourselves, not just to other people.
If we don’t believe in us, why should we expect anyone else to, we should be our biggest cheer leader.
3. We should give affirmations to others.
A positive word to others goes a long way.
Everyone is going through something or will go through something.
Never stop speaking positivity, never stop encouraging or motivating, it is not overrated.
4. We should receive affirmations from others.
I’m never too proud that I cannot appreciate a positive word from another person.
I get down sometimes, and it can be hard to affirm myself or receive it from God.
But to have another person give it, whether in a phone call, text, or social media, it can be right on time.
The Power Of Affirmations – Receiving them can help change the course of our lives, and giving them can help change the course of other peoples lives.
