Compassion

Matthew 9:36(NKJV)

But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.

Compassion(greek meaning) – to be moved with compassion, to have the bowels yearns, to feel sympathy for.

Refers to the internal organs or bowels, gut-level feelings, or empathy for others sufferings.

Compassion(Webster) – A sensation of sorrow for the misfortunes of others.

There are some things in life that should move all of us.

1. The mistreatment of others

2. Suffering of others

3. Hunger around the world

4. Sickness and Decease

5. Any kind of injustices

6. Any kind of inequalities seems to be where we are now as a society. Compassion depends on if our beliefs are aligned, religious, political, Social beliefs, even if we are of race or ethnicity.

Some of the different people groups that Jesus helped:

Some of the different social and economic groups Jesus helped:

3. Demon possessed

4. Impoverished

5. Social Outcasts(Pariahs)

6. Nobleman – Person of high social standing

7. Centurion – Military Officer

8. Pharisees – Nicodemus

I’m so glad that I have Christian friends, non Christian friends, Atheists friends, friends who are democrats, Republican friends, Fox News friends, CNN friends, many friends who like Social media personalities etc.

It makes for great discussions, as long as it doesn’t turn to argument.

Inclusion – It means to be valued by others regardless of your background or identity. God is even there for people who try to exclude him.

Someone once said, “If you draw a circle and exclude God, God will draw a larger circle and include you.” Incusion does not mean that we accept everything that a person or group stands for, whether we accept them or not, they are still under the umbrella of the love of God. But people still need to make the decision to turn to him, but if they feel excluded, they may not.

Sometimes we may forget the wrong that we have done in life. So Jesus compassion did not have a range, it wasn’t based on religion, social standing, economic standings, or political standing.

Rich people hurt, get sick, and die just like poor people. Jesus main enemy or adversary was the systems that control and manipulate people. And even with them if they came to him, he would not turn them away. It saddens me the hate and angry we can have towards people who don’t think or believe like we do.

No matter what our political beliefs are on immigration to have kids separated from parents is crazy, but some people think that is okay because they are immigrants.

I have a friend who works for CPS(Child Protective Services), they have some extreme cases, but their main desire is unification or reunification, if possible.

In some cases, it is not. Their desire is not to keep the kids from parents, some times they get it right and sometimes not, but they try.

Our hearts should ache or yearn for any injustices around the world, there poverty around the world, sex trafficking, so many issues.

That’s why I’m a believer in volunteering at your local church, nonprofit, anywhere where there is a community needs.

Matthew 25:40-45

Jesus talks about helping the least of these, having compassion on the least of these.

So as we go forward in life, let’s try to not become numb to the hurt in the world. Let’s keep going forward, but let’s also always be aware of the hurt around us.

Compassion – The essence of being a believer, it’s not just a feeling but a call to action.
