Issachar Spirit

1 Chronicles 12:32(GW)

From Issachar descendants, there were 200 leaders who understood the times and knew what israel should do. Their relatives were under their command.

Studying on Issachar is more of a study of his Father Jacob’s life and legacy.

It’s an example of not giving up, even when life seems unfair, when promises seemingly have gone unfulfilled, when it seems you are working and not being rewarded, and compensated justly for your work.

Issachar was a son of Jacob, his 9th son and 5th son with Leah, Leah wasn’t the one Jacob wanted, Jacob wanted Rachel.

How would it feel to work 7 years for something or someone and you do not get what was promised, Issachar was one of the results of what Jacob got, even though Jacob was deceived by Laban Issachar was a blessing from God.

Even in our frustration, let’s not minimize the blessings we have received from God. Sometimes you don’t get what you want, but the end result is still a blessing.

Leah was actually barren before she had Issachar.

Issachar means reward for your labor, it means wages or reward, it took Jacob a while but he got rewarded for his labor, we must never give up, just keep working even when things are not fair.

Jacob worked for 7 years and got Leah when he wanted Rachel, then had to work 7 more years for Rachel.

When Jacob prophesied to his sons, one of my favorite biblical moments, Genesis 49, he said of Issachar that he would be willing to carry loads or burdens.

So Issachar didn’t just have a understanding of the times, but the Issachar spirit was one of carrying loads or burdens, being a servant to their families and the world.

In Chronicles it says that the children of Issachar had a understanding of the TIMES plural, not just the TIME now, they understood past, present, and future, they knew what the people of God should do.

The Issachar Spirit is not a gender base Spirit, it can be in a Male or Female, it’s not any specific ethnic group, it’s not in income or status, it’s not based on popularity or clicks, it’s the one folks look to.

So even when things were going bad, they remembered God’s plan and God’s promises so they always knew what the people should do. They were in touch with God and in touched with the people.

Then it says their families were at their command. When we take our rightful positions people will look to us for hope, encouragement, and direction.

So the Issachar spirit is an incredible biblical lesson of discernment, loyalty, insight, servant hood, and leadership.

There is an Issachar spirit in the world today, God has many servants with that Spirit.

We must position ourselves to be sensitive to what God is saying and doing.

Never give up on your promise, but in the mist of waiting on your promise, blessings can come out of adversity, Issachar was an unexpected blessing.

Be encouraged.
