I Can Not Come Down

Nehemiah 6:3(ERV)

So I sent messengers to them with this answer: “I am doing important work, so I can not come down. I don’t want the work to stop just so I can come down and meet with you.”

Nehemiah was repairing the wall in Jerusalem. He had come a long ways but the wall was not completed.

Then two men, named Sanballat, and Tobiah, collaborated to distract Nehemiah. They sent messengers to him to ask for a meeting, but Nehemiah knew their motives.

Nehemiah knew and believed that the work he was doing was too important for that distraction, so he sent messengers back to them that he could not come down.

They tried to fool him to think that they wanted a friendly meeting with him, but he knew their heart.

That’s how life is, especially if you are doing something important or great. People will come along and try to bring you down to their level.

In sports, we would call it, they are trying to put you off your game.

Some reasons people will try to bring you down.

1. Jealousy of how great you are doing.

2. Some will feel like you are a treat to them

3. You are really trying to help others

4. Because of their own insecurities

5. Other people are thankful for you

6. They want your position

7. Just hate by an ex or ex friend, even family member. But you must stay focus and not get distracted by their insecurities.

You must:

1. You must not get involved in useless arguments, whether for political, religious, or social issues

2. You must know who you are, identity

3. You must mainly compete with yourself, especially in personal growth, but there are times when competition may be necessary, but wise

4. You must know your purpose, when you know your purpose it eliminates competition.

5. You must consider leaving that relationship or friendship if it’s keeping you down or bringing you down

6. You must always set boundaries with your life

When you are focus on becoming the best version of your and doing a great and important work, so many forces can try to resist you.

So many people or situations may try to summon you down, get you off your game.

But your answer must be “I Can not Come Down”, I AM doing an important thing.
