My 3D Fitness journey

I had always been an athletic, from childhood days to a young adult.

Growing up in Louisiana, i played football, basketball, baseball, and ran track in high school.

So when i joined the military after high school, I was in great shape. I played football and basketball in the military also.

But after I left the military fit, i started working and eventually started my own company.

One day I looked up, and I was 366lbs, could barely walk upstairs, had sleep apnea and elevated blood pressure.

So I started my journey, this is not a formula, many have their own story.

I went from weighing 366 to 190 in a 10 year journey, now I’m consistently 200-210lbs at 6 feet 2 inches, my journey is still in progress, it’s a day by day lifestyle.

I’ve fallen off many times, but i get back up.

My workout normally begins at 5 am, not religiously, I may change for a day or two, depending on my schedule.

1. D1 stands for Discipline – Discipline in fitness, for me is the ability to consistently stay with a workout regimen, dietary plan, and overall healthy lifestyle.

Remember, a diet is just as important as exercise. It’s hard to outwork a bad diet, and it will not happen overnight but it’s possible.

If i can do it, it certainly can be done.

2. D2 stands for Desire – Desire in fitness for me is engaging in physical activities because it brings me joy, fulfillment, and a sense of accomplishments.

Extrinsic motivation is good for a season. We all need to be pushed at times.

Intrinsic motivation is rooted in desire. After a while, motivation comes from within.

Some people start off needing a personal trainer. Some may always need a personal trainer, whatever works for you.

Desire in workouts is something that you will have to work for, but once you’re there, it’s a great sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.

If i can do it, it certainly can be done.

3. D3 stands for Delight – Delight in fitness for me is you get to a point where if you don’t exercise or try to eat right, you feel horrible. It has become part of your life.

Fitness and a healthy lifestyle have become a part of my life. That’s part of my therapy, I get so much satisfaction, pleasure, and happiness out of that lifestyle.

It doesn’t guarantee you will never get sick, but when you do, your chances of recovery will be much better.

So, the key for me is that even when I have moments of little or no desire, I can always fall back on discipline until the desire comes back, and it always does.

If I can do it, it certainly can be done.
